How much will my project cost, and how do you determine your fees?Clients want clarity on budgeting and the breakdown of design fees. With a paid consult I asses project scope and provide a Letter of Agreement outlining the design fee. If you elect to move forward and work with CLD for your design project, the consultation fee will be credited toward your project. I typically charge a flat fee for my services based on a per sq ft pricing model. For certain projects that are hard to predict, I will work on an hourly rate. This will all be outlined in your LOA.
-
How long will the design and implementation process take?Timeline expectations are a top concern, especially for homeowners eager to complete their projects by specific deadlines. Timelines vary from project to project. We do our best to communicate what to expect once we have established your project scope.
-
How involved will I need to be in the decision-making process?Clients often wonder whether they’ll be hands-on throughout the project or if the designer will handle most decisions independently. When clients get too involved in the design process, it generally slows down and costs more. We find the best client experience results when clients are able to clearly communicate their needs and desires upfront. We have a Concept and Budget Review check point built into our process that acts as a "gut check" to ensure we are on the same page prior to finalizing your designs. Additionally, clients are welcome to make 1 round of revisions. Any additional design work or revisions are considered out of the scope of the initial flat fee.
-
Can you work within my existing budget, or help me prioritize where to spend and save?Budgeting is always a concern, and clients may ask for guidance on how to allocate resources effectively. I work with clients to help them understand the costs associated with properly designing a space. We want clients to understand that budgeting is a process that we continually discuss as the project unfolds. We start with a scope list that includes all of the items that need to be sourced and have a "high" and "low" number associated with the items. We try to stay in budget overall and not get too worried about one item that may be on the high end as long as the overall budget is met.

How do you ensure the design reflects my personality and lifestyle?Clients want reassurance that their space will feel personal and cater to their functional and aesthetic needs. I spend time talking to my clients to get a sense of who they are, how they live, and their personal aesthetic. I encourage clients to provide inspiration pictures at the initial consultation. This is very helpful but not mandatory. Additionally, when working clients have access to custom pieces that can specifically reflect their personality in a bespoke manner.
